Kunaal Roy Kapur (born on 13 February 1979, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India), is an Indian film, television actor, VJ(Video Jockey), and director. His mother's name is Salome Roy Kapur she is the Former model, Choreographer, Actress, and father's name is Roy Kapur a movie Producer. He has two brothers one is Siddharth Roy Kapur who is elder then Kunaal and he is an Entrepreneur and Producer. Siddharth Roy Kapur is the founder and MD of Roy Kapur Films. Siddharth married actress Vidya Balan in 2012 so, Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is Kunaal's sister in law. Kunaal another brother is Bollywood famous actor Aditya Roy Kapur. Aditya is younger than Kunaal. Aditya is mainly known for his work in movies like Aashiqui 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Malang. Kunaal grandfather was a movie producer and his name was Raghupat Roy Kapur (or Raghupat Rai Kapoor). Kunaal married Ceramic artist Shayonti Roy Kapur in 2015, and they having one son Zahaan Roy Kapoor and one daughter Shanaz Roy Kapoor. Kunaal debuted to Bollywood with the Panga Na Lo movie in 2007. Panga Na Lo was a Disaster in the box office and but appreciated by critics. For his acting in Panga Na Lo, he was very much appreciated. In Panga Na Lo Kunaal acted along with Om Puri. Panga Na Lo was the comedy-drama movie. Kunaal is mainly known for his acting in Delhi Belly (2011), Nautanki Saala (2013), and The Final Exit (2017). In 2011 he acted with actors Imran Khan and Vir Das in the Delhi Belly movie. Delhi Belly was a comedy-drama movie that revolves around three friends who stuck with gangsters try to save their life. For Kunaal's best performance in Delhi Belly, he was nominated for Popular Award, in Best Supporting Actor. In his 2013 movie Nautanki Saala he acted along with Ayushmann Khurrana, this movie is a comedy-drama movie. Nautanki Saala movie revolves around struggling couples who try to maintain their relationship. In this movie, Kunaal and Ayushmann's acting is very much appreciated. Nautanki Saala was below average in the box office but appreciated by critics. In 2017 he acted in Supernatural horror suspense thriller movie The Final Exit. The Final Exit was a disaster in the box office but highly appreciated by critics. Kunaal acting in this movie was very much loved. He belongs to the Hindu family and follows Hinduism as his religion. He has completed his school from G D Somani Memorial School, Mumbai. Then he completed graduation from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. He completed his graduation before entering movies. He has a dream of becoming an actor from childhood, with the help of his family he achieved this dream. Apart from acting, he is also a director and he directed mockumentary film The President Is Coming (2009).
Apart from the movie, Kunaal also worked on TV shows and web series. He worked in TV shows like Just Mohabbat (1996—2000), Mumbai Calling (2017), and Going Viral (2017). He debuted to TV shows with Just Mohabbat in 1996 as the child actor. In 2017 he made a debut to TV serials as lead role actor with Mumbai Calling. He worked in web series like TVF Tripling (2016), TVF Tripling Season 2 (2019), and Parchhayee (2019). He debuted to web series with TVF Tripling in 2016. TVF Tripling is a comedy-drama series, which revolves around the life of two brothers and one sister. In TVF Tripling Kunaal acted along with Sumeet Vyas, Maanvi Gagroo, and Amol Parashar. In this series, Kunaal acted as the role of Pranav a Rajasthan Prince and husband of Maanvi Gagroo.
Kunaal acted in Bollywood movies like Panga Na Lo (2007), Loins of Punjab Presents (2007), Revolution (2008), Delhi Belly (2011), Nautanki Saala (2013), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Gollu Aur Pappu (2014), Action Jackson (2014), Azhar (2016), The Final Exit (2017), Hotel Milan (2018), Kaalakaandi (2018), Marudhar Express (2019), Love per Square Foot (2019) Mushkil (2019), and 3 Dev (2019). His movie 3 Dev was not released due to hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. In the movie poster, they showed the Hindu god replaced with actors. Also, the title has the tagline "Undercover Bhagwan", after opposing from different people for hurting religious sentiment, this movie remains unreleased! In this movie, he acted along with actors like Karan Singh Grover and Ravi Dubey. In the 2013 Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani movie he acted for a minor role. In Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani he acted along with Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was box office blockbuster and Kunaal acting is appreciated in this movie. Despite his most movies are a flop in the box office still his acting is very much appreciated. Kunaal will be seen next in the Netflix web series Tribhanga which likely going to release in 2020. This has stars like Kajol, Tanvi Azmi, Mithila Palkar.
