Anupam Kher (born 07 March 1955 in Simla, East Punjab, India (present-day Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India) is an Indian actor mainly Bollywood and the former Chairman of the movie and TV Institute of India. Anupam is the recipient of two National movie Awards and eight Filmfare Awards. Anupam has appeared in over 500 movies in several languages and many plays. Kher won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in Saaransh (1984). Anupam holds the record for winning the Filmfare Award for maximum times as Best Comedian 05 times in total for his work in Ram Lakhan (1989), Lamhe (1991), Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Khel (1992), and Darr (1993). Anupam won the National movie Award for Special Mention 02 times for his acting in Bollywood movies Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara (2005) and Daddy (1989). For his acting in the movie Vijay (1988), Anupam won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Besides working in Bollywood movies, Anupam has also appeared in international movies such as the and David O. Russell's Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook (2012), Golden Globe-nominated Bend It Like Beckham (2002), and Ang Lee's Golden Lion-winning Lust, Caution (2007). Anupam won a BAFTA nomination for Kher's supporting character role in the British TV sitcom The Boy With The Topknot (2018). Anupam was appointed for the post of chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification and the National School of Drama in India. The Indian government honored Anupam with the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his work in the field of cinema and arts.

Anupam Kher was allotted FTII chairman in October 2017 and Anupam contributed many things there, however his appointment was cited as problematic due to his pro-BJP stance and prolonged absences. On Thirty-one October 2018, Anupam quit as the chairman of the FTII, citing his work commitments for the American TV show New Amsterdam. Kher was born on Seventh March 1955 in a family in Shimla. His father was a clerk and Anupam had a modest upbringing. Anupam was educated at D. A. V. School in Simla. In Kher struggling days as an actor in Mumbai Anupam slept on the railway platform for a month. In nineteen eighty-seven, Kher graduated from the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi. Some of Kher's early roles were in plays performed at the Himachal Pradesh University.

Story of this picture!! When Michael Jackson visited India in 1996 a group of selected people were invited to meet him exclusively at Oberoi hotel gardens. I was also the lucky one. Thanks to Bharat Bhai Shah. There was a small stage set up in the garden with a barricade for the special guests. MJ walked down from his suite and stood on the improvised stage with his bodyguards. There was silence and sense of awe among the selected guests. I was looking at this magician who had enthralled and hypnotised the entire universe with his electrifying performances. He was just few feet away from me. I wanted to capture this moment. So I broke the barricade jumped on the stage and almost hugged MJ. The bodyguards rushed towards me and before they could pick me up bodily Bharat Bhai Shah in panic introduced me to Michael Jackson as the biggest actor in India. He immediately and politely bent down and shook a jubilant me’s hands. And my history was captured in this picture. Sometimes you have to make an effort to create Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai moments.
