Om Prakash Puri (born on 08 October 1950 in Ambala, Haryana, India) is Indian actor. He is mainly known for his work in Mere Baap Pehle Aap (2008), Delhi-6 (2009), and Dabangg (2010). He completed his studies at the Film and Television Institute of India, National School of Drama. He completed graduation in acting. He is known internationally for working in movies like My Son the Fanatic (1997), East Is East (1999), and The Parole Officer (2001). He married Seema Kapoor in 1991 but they had divorced in 1991. Then in 1993, he married Nandita Puri but they had divorced in 2013. Om Puri and Nandita had one son Ishaan. Om Puri's father's name is Rajesh Puri and his brother's name is Ved Puri. He made Bollywood movie debut with Godhuli (1977), Marathi movie debut with Ghashiram Kotwal (1972), Hollywood movie debut with City of Joy (1992), Punjabi movie debut with Chann Pardesi (1980), TV Show debut with The Jewel in the Crown (1984), Kannada movie debut with Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane (1977), Gujarati movie debut with Naseeb Ni Balihari (1982), and Malayalam movie debut with Puravrutham (1988). Omprakash Zindabad (2020) was his last acted movie. He mainly worked in serious roles and comedy roles. Both types of roles are loved by the audience. Om Puri was honored at the 89th Academy Awards in the Memoriam segment for his contribution to world cinema. Puri was awarded Padma Shri, the 4th highest civilian award of India, in 1990.
