Cursed (2020) Story in Short |
---|
This series is based on the fantasy world of King Arthur. The series follows the witch community which is struggling to live life in the human-dominated world. The series introduces a character Nimue who is the witch and chosen one. Humans for their personal benefit doing the genocide of witches and other communities accept humans. In this genocide before the death of Nimue's mother she handover her sword to Nimue to deliver it to the other person. The whole series is completely based on her journey of delivering the sword. This journey was followed by tough obstacles and people who want to steal the sword. |
Cursed Series Review |
---|
I actually like the first episode, which starts with an introduction to the characters. But soon after 1st episode, the series' primary focus is on the journey of the delivering sword. Soon it feels boring because almost nothing special is happening in the series. The love story which has given to the character of Nimue was not that interesting. It was just a routine love track which I am sure you already saw in other films. The series actually does not stand with their logic like witches and other communities do have powers. But still the other communities are unable to defend themself from humans who don't have any extra powers. Some of the witch characters who are helping humans don't have any proper reason behind choosing the other side of the clash. In several places stories start taking wrong turns like in between it takes a funny turn, and sometimes a love track starts. But the whole series is based on genocide where the series should be intense and serious about the goal. Series has a wide range which you will understand by looking at the world they created. But series do not have over-the-top action or wow VFX. I saw Katherine Langford before in the 13 Reasons Why series and Spontaneous movie. After watching that I think she does decent acting. In this series, I felt she did decent work. In several places, it feels Katherine was not suitable for the character given in this series. The story feels interesting but the slow phase of the series will surely disappoint you. |
Positive Points Of The Cursed Series |
---|
1) Good BGM which completely justifies the story genre. I love the title music of the series. 2) Interesting storyline. 3) Wide range and big budget which created a believable fantasy world. 4) Character depth, several characters are introduced with a strong back story so this character will connect with you. 5) Sudden unexpected twists of the series. 6) Season 1 ends with several questions answered and somewhat satisfying conclusions! |
Negative Points Of The Cursed Series |
---|
1) Bad execution of the story which stops and takes wrong turns in several places. 2) Good believable VFX in some places but in some places, you will see bad VFX. 3) Except last action other fight scenes are not that impressive or over the top. 4) Unnecessary love story. 5) Slow phase of the series. Every episode is 48–59 minutes long and the series has a total has 10 episodes in which the story starts dragging. 6) Average acting work of the lead character played by Katherine Langford. 7) Illogical moments in the series where the powerful witch community is completely dominated by powerless humans. Even after getting the powers from Nimue, she decides to surrender despite her whole community being literally genocided by humans who clearly do not have the intention to stop. 8) Not so dedicated characters. The main character Nimue does not feel serious or dedicated in situations where her people are killed by humans. In several places even after being aware of humans destroying the witch community village one by one still, Nimue does not feel dedicated and serious about defending her community. 9) No proper reason is given to the characters who choose the opposite side and kill their own community people. |
